"It was my great honor to featuring Prof. Andre Hayward (as I referred to him with the students & audience) on our Jazz Ensemble concert at Lone Star College in Kingwood, TX. It is the greatest joy for any teacher to have one of your former students continue in the field, become successful, then return to your school and share that knowledge with the present students and audience members.

They are still talking about him and it was a memorable event. We did an arrangement of Teen Town by Jaco and Andre blew the students away by sight-reading the chart at the rehearsal (the line arranged for bass, trumpet, and trombone).

We also did a Bob Washut arrangement (adapted by Chad Willis) of Caravan (Second Line Style). I played timbales on both tunes and we had a good time! Ironically, all of this happened on my birthday and I will never forget it!!
