DON BELL Is best known in the local Jazz circles as “Saxophonist Extraordinaire” for his smooth and melodic, yet electrifying and explosive style of performing. The source of Don’s appeal is his ability to make us feel what he feels while playing a song; whether it’s the powerful, heart thumping beats of his up-tempo tunes or the irresistibly soulful sounds of his slower, jazzy emotions. Don’s brand of music fits in well with the Smooth Jazz or Wave format.

Many people have said that to see and hear Don “The 1” Bell perform onstage is an unforgettable experience. He is in the truest sense the all around performer by interacting with his audience and engaging them in conversation in between songs. He is known for stepping offstage during a song and walking through his audience, playing to each table as if they were the only people in the room. Throughout any performance, Don will pick up any of his three saxophones – tenor, alto or soprano and play each one beautifully, with the same intensity no matter what the style of music.

Don had early influences in jazz, listening to John Coltrane, Charley Parker, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and later, to a variety of such well-known artists as James Brown, Grover Washington, Jr., Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, The Gap Band, Marvin Gaye and Bobbie Womack . Within this vast array of various musical interests, Don developed a multifaceted style of writing, composing and producing songs which include Jazz, R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap and Gospel.

Over the years Don has had the opportunity to perform with the likes of Joe Sample, Less McCann, The Gap Band, The Platters and Ike Turner. Don most recent performance has been on the ever popular show “Sex in the City” where he is the sax soloist on the theme song.

Now, with his much anticipated CD release, which is written, arranged and produced by Don “The 1” Bell, it will no doubt please audiences worldwide!

My Two Jazz Teachers Just Joined The Network!

Hello JMS Members,

I'm so excited today. Two of my most influential jazz musical mentors, Robert "Doc" Morgan and Marvin "Prof" Sparks has joined the network. I'm so proud to have had both of these gentlemen as major influences in my musical, personal, and business development. I'm just showing off. Excuse me for being excited.

Peace & Keep Swinging!
